About Angie Realce

I am a lifestyle and documentary photographer based in Oakland, California near the Berkeley and Emeryville borders.

I photograph weddings, events and portraits with a personal approach and a collaborative spirit. I believe in working with my clients, encouraging them to be active participants in their photo session. After discussing and understanding their desires, and with my composition and direction, I create each image to capture the beauty, fun and heart-felt emotions of their special day.

My love for photography started in elementary school when I would often borrow my parent’s Kodak 110 camera. My fascination with the camera prompted me to photograph my friends in the schoolyard during recess. After realizing I had a strong interest in photography, my parents gave me a pink and petite Kodak 110 – my first camera!

Throughout my childhood, my love of art and design was honed at an arts magnet school in San Diego, California. At the age of 12, I learned about 35mm black and white film, the darkroom and the printing process. I developed my film and printed my photographs, opening the door to a better understanding of composition and light.

During my college years, I pursued a different creative career – architecture. I studied architecture and design at UC Berkeley. After I graduated, I practiced architectural design in San Francisco during the day and studied photography at night. During my free time, I set up photo shoots and worked with other photographers to develop my style. In 2005, I retired from architecture to dedicate more time to photography.

I welcome you to review my recent work in my blog to get a sense of my style.
